History:
We conducted an investigation at The Union Hall, located in Beloit, Wisconsin, on July 11th, 2005. Built
in 1854, it was once used as an illegal abortion clinic, mortuary and as part of the underground
railroad. One tunnel once ran from the Rock River, to a place of safety, under the establishment, and
another tunnel, to a barn, of which the steps can still be seen nearby. The majority of the tunnels were
destroyed when the area roads were built. The city officials were unaware that the tunnels existed at
the time.
Reported Activity:
Activity has consisted of: One man not being able to come up at night because of uneasiness here
and another reportedly continuing to hear voices while in the building. In a contrasting statement, a
man we spoke with spent numerous nights alone here and reported to us that he heard and saw
nothing unusual.
Investigation (7-11-05):
The investigation was conducted on July 11th, 2005. Three investigators were present. Moon-waxing
gibbous, Solar xrays-active. Geomagnetic field-Storm. Length of investigation-2 hours. No abnormal
fluctuations in temperature gauges, EMF meters. No positive photos taken; however, Vicki did take one
photo from a previous visit to the establishment (Example can be found below). An interesting E.V.P.
was heard regarding a fire. When analyzing the Evp's, "burning..burning..pistol...get out" was heard.
Keep in mind this was a class C Evp, so it was not posted on the EVP page. It was learned later, that
at one point in time, there was a fire at the establishment. Photos were negative, however, Vicki Turner
did capture one photo (displayed below) from a previous visit, that could be questionable, from the
area, where bodies had at one point been kept. This area, sometimes called, "the cave", was once
used as the morgue area and where the escaping slaves entered when first reaching the

heard below. Results of the investigation were inconclusive. More time would need to be invested here
before a definitive answer could be given.

Evidence and data collected:
We were lucky enough to be invited back to the Union Hall in June, 2007 for a second investigation.
Four investigators were present and when questioned at the end of the investigation, none had noted
any personal experiences while there. There was one interesting matter to note regarding the EMF
meter: while in the basement, Amy was holding the EMF detector while Vicki and Wilma were directly
below, in the "cave": the area where the escaping slaves had first entered the establishment, when
making their freedom plight. The "cave" is the lowest part of the establishment. As Vicki and Wilma
were beginning to investigate there, there were 3 small spikes in the EMF meter. Macey and Amy's
discussion regarding this event, as well as the tones from the EMF meter were picked up on Amy's
recorder while this was happening. On Wilma's recorder, and within seconds of the EMF spiking, a
female voice can be heard stating, "I love him". We feel that the correlating data from the EMF meter
and the capture from Wilma's recorder are significant. Another small EMF spike was recorded in the
first floor kitchen. Other than noted, all meters stayed well within their normal ranges and no abnormal
temperature changes were observed.

EVP was postive. As with the first visit, there were many Class "C" EVP captures: this class is difficult
to decipher, therefore they were not posted on the site, the clearest form were posted and can be
heard below.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, and with the history of the establishment, audio evidence collected, and the witness
reports, we feel there to be a residual haunting taking place at the Union Hall.
