History & Reported Activity:
When trying to locate the address for this particular establishment, located in Janesville's Olde Towne Mall,
it was discovered that it's first known address could not be found. This was because of the early changes
that had been made to the city streets - the original address had changed, possibly more than once. The
business consists of six rooms on two levels. We are allowed to say that the establishment consists of a
bathroom, storage areas, three large lower rooms, an upstairs office, two stairways leading down from the
office and two large rooms that face the front of the building, where the majority of the activity has been
reported. The largest of these two rooms show signs of a fire: burn marks covering the walls and tattered,
peeling wallpaper. We must stress that the damages are not minimal. They are in some places, ceiling to
floor, wall to wall. There are reports (possibly rumors), of a family that once lived in this upstairs area, that
accuse a man of ending the lives of his family, then taking his own. We have yet to find anything definitive in
nature to back this up. This upstairs area is large and could have easily been an apartment living quarters
at one time. There is a door in this room, marked with a large, "X", with a lock on it, which we were not able
to open. Everything else was available for us to explore, except whatever was inside this door. When we
asked about this, we were told by one of the women still working there, that there was a previous employee
who refused to let anyone in here, the reason why, is still unknown. We were unable to get a hold of the
previous employee to ask him of his side of the story. There does not seem to be any sign of fire damage in
the room leading off of the main 'living' room upstairs. Reports consist of: voices, laughter and footsteps
heard in the upstairs area where the purported fire had taken place. Also reported, walls shaking so
violently, in the lower area of establishment, that mirrors and photos were almost dislodged from their
locations (this was observed by numerous witnesses at the time). A CD player/radio turning on by itself,
often when the cord is not plugged in. The light in the upstairs area where the alleged fire had taken place,
turning on by itself; after this occurs, and someone feels as though they are comfortable enough to turn off
the light, they find that it has already been shut off. The same light is also observed on, when the managers
of the establishment are driving by, after having locked up for the night. An overall uncomfortable feeling is
felt in certain rooms; however, on the second visit, we were asked not to "bother the spirits" in any way, as
two of the employees we spoke with at that time, did not feel in threatened in any way.
Investigation Data recorded:
On both investigations we experienced no abnormalities in temperature readings or emf fluctuations. Kelly
and Amy both described hearing what sounded like a "shuffling" noise in one of the stairwells, leading to
the upstairs office area, within moments of one another. Upon investigating the noises, nothing was found.
Greg experienced glimpses of shadows on more than one occasion. During an EVP session (2nd visit) in
the upper, burned out room, Kelly heard a "shuffling" noise behind the door marked with an "X". Photos were
then taken and we did capture what seemed to be a possible orb in motion or O.I.M. (These can sometimes
signify a greater chance of paranormal activity. See photo below "Door marked "X" ).
EVP was minimal but positive and can be heard below. (We must note, that numerous Class "C" EVP were
captured throughout. This class is much more difficult to hear, therefore they were not posted on the site).
Conclusion:
As a team, we are in agreement that the people who are employeed at this business, could possibly, on
occasion, be experiencing some paranormal activity. We did not experience anything we normally would
term a "haunting" in nature in the two nights that we were present there...however, unlike the employees
there now, we do not dwell there on a regular basis.
